“People have lost their lives, are missing, displaced, injured and torn away from their communities.”

Pledge Idai is powered by a group of young Africans (both on the continent and in the Diaspora), who have been moved to respond in the face of this humanitarian crisis.

In partnership with Higherlife Foundation and Delta Philanthropies,  Pledge Idai seeks to raise $200,000 in 45 days for all three affected countries – Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Malawi.

Our challenge for every young diasporan is to run #thenextmile with us and contribute. For every pound, euro or dollar invested in this campaign, Delta Philanthropies will match the same, doubling any return on investment.

“We urge you to run #thenextmile  – let’s stand together for Africa, her people, and her prosperity.”

Can I allocate my donation towards one of the three countries?

When you make your donation online, your money will go into a pool of funds that will be used to address the on-going needs on the ground in all three countries – Mozambique, Malawi, and Zimbabwe. You will not be able to specify where you want your money to go, but you will receive regular updates from us informing you what the donations are being used for and tracking the progress being made.

How is the money going to be used?

Donated funds will address immediate needs (i.e. food, water, clothing, medicine, shelter), as well as long-term needs such as rebuilding of infrastructure, resettlement for those displaced, and educational support for orphaned and vulnerable children. Overall, our campaign will followed a phased strategy that seeks to recover, restore, and rebuild in these affected communities, as well as help people build their resilience and make a fresh start.
